In a heart-wrenching tragedy, a woman and her two children were murdered in Bawku by unidentified gunmen reportedly dressed in military uniforms.

The gruesome attack occurred at 2 a.m. in Tensungo, a community just meters away from a military camp.

The incident has been linked to the protracted chieftaincy conflict that has gripped the area, with the death toll rising to 45 since the conflict reignited in October 2024. Just two weeks ago, a 13-year-old boy was killed in the same vicinity, adding to the growing unease among residents.

Mohammed Saani, Assemblymember for the Tensungo Electoral Area, confirmed the killings to Citi News. He revealed that the family suspects the assailants may return to commit further atrocities. The victims’ bodies have been deposited at the morgue, and investigations are ongoing.

This tragic event has shattered a brief period of calm and escalated tensions in the embattled community.
