Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has praised Niger’s launch of its Consultative Council for Rebuilding, calling it a major step forward in the country’s democratic journey and a model for inclusive governance.

During a visit to Niamey on Saturday, June 28, Bagbin delivered a message of solidarity, applauding Niger’s leadership for involving its citizens in shaping a new national direction. He described the council’s establishment as a “historic and people-centered” move that reflects the nation’s deep commitment to peace, justice, and participatory development.

Speaking directly to members of the newly formed Council, Bagbin encouraged them to serve with integrity, fairness, and a steadfast dedication to the common good.

He also extended an invitation for the Council to observe Ghana’s ongoing constitutional review process, emphasizing the value of mutual learning and regional collaboration in strengthening democracy across West Africa.

Reaffirming Ghana’s continued support, Bagbin pledged technical assistance, knowledge-sharing, and active diplomatic engagement to aid Niger’s rebuilding efforts. He highlighted the vital role of regional solidarity in addressing common challenges and promoting collective growth.

Closing his address, Bagbin expressed confidence that Niger’s Consultative Council will serve as a lasting symbol of national unity and a source of democratic inspiration throughout the region.
