Retired Commissioner of Police (COP) and esteemed member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) security team, Nathan Kofi Boakye, has called on party members to foster unity and resist the divisive force of greed as they prepare to lead the incoming government.

Speaking at a victory celebration for the Ashanti Regional Zone Two campaign team in Kumasi over the weekend, COP (retired) Boakye emphasized the importance of solidarity for the party’s long-term success.

“If we care for one another, we’ll enter the 2028 elections with stronger strategies and renewed energy. Let’s not allow greed to divide us,” he urged.

Acknowledging the reality that not everyone can secure a government appointment, Boakye cautioned against the misuse of power by those chosen to serve.

“Yes, we’ve won the election to form the next government after January 7, 2025. However, not everyone here will receive an appointment. Those who do must not use their positions to intimidate others. Show leadership, care for your fellow members, and act in the interest of all,” he said.

He lauded the contributions of party members during the campaign, assuring them of recognition and support under the leadership of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.

“I commend you all for your dedication. Your hard work will not go unnoticed. The incoming president has excellent policies to reward your efforts and improve our nation,” Boakye affirmed.

Boakye also rallied the NDC to remain focused and united to ensure a successful administration and prepare for an even stronger performance in the 2028 elections.

“Today, we celebrate a collective victory over the NPP in the 2024 elections. Let’s use this momentum to support our president and his appointees in driving positive change, which will further secure the trust of Ghanaians in 2028,” he added.

John Dramani Mahama is set to be sworn in as President on January 7, 2025, marking the start of a new chapter for the NDC.
