Arsenal have opened talks with Valencia over the potential signing of highly rated defender Cristhian Mosquera.
The 20-year-old Spanish defender, who is comfortable playing both as a centre-back and right-back, has emerged as a leading target as Arsenal look to strengthen their backline this summer.
While the Gunners have also expressed interest in Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, the England international is reportedly hesitant about a move to the Emirates due to concerns over limited playing time behind established central defenders Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.
Mosquera, a Spain Under-21 international, has impressed since graduating from Valencia’s academy in 2021, amassing 90 senior appearances. He was a key figure for the La Liga side last season, completing 90 minutes in 37 of their 38 league matches.
Arsenal’s transfer activity is gathering momentum, with deals for Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga also nearing completion.
Norgaard is expected to join in a deal worth up to £15 million, with the Denmark international set to undergo a medical. Meanwhile, Kepa’s move to the Emirates is expected to be finalised shortly.
In addition, 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly has committed his long-term future to the club, signing a new five-year contract on Thursday. The promising full-back made 39 appearances last season and has quickly become a regular under Mikel Arteta.
