Anas Wins $18M in US Defamation Case Against Kennedy Agyapong
Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas wins a major legal battle against the outspoken former Ghanaian MP.

Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has claimed a major legal victory in the United States, securing an $18 million judgment in a defamation case against Kennedy Agyapong, a former Ghanaian MP for Assin Central.
The Essex County, New Jersey jury found Agyapong and media personality Frederick Asamoah guilty of making defamatory remarks against Anas on The Daddy Fred Show, a popular online program among Ghanaians in the U.S.
The accusations included labeling Anas a criminal, a thief, and alleging his involvement in the murder of Ahmed Suale, a key member of his investigative team.
This international triumph follows a previous setback for Anas in Ghana, where a defamation suit against Agyapong was dismissed by the Accra High Court in March 2023.
Despite the unfavorable ruling, Anas remained resilient, taking his fight beyond Ghanaian borders — a move that has now paid off with this landmark judgment.
