President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians, especially the youth, to embrace 5G technology responsibly.

Akufo-Addo emphasized the need to avoid actions that could impede the country’s digital transformation.

Speaking at the launch of Ghana’s high-speed 5G internet service on November 1, 2024, in Accra, the President noted that the initiative, spearheaded by NextGen Infraco, is designed to leverage 5G to enhance key economic sectors for sustainable growth.

While acknowledging the vast opportunities 5G presents, President Akufo-Addo stressed the importance of not letting it compromise data security or privacy. He called on both users and regulators to stay alert to potential digital threats, ensuring that the technology serves as a positive force for Ghana’s development.

“The journey ahead requires vigilance and responsibility. 5G is a powerful catalyst for shaping Ghana’s future, and with its potential comes the duty to use it wisely,” he stated.
