New 800-Meter Flyover and Upgraded Routes Set to Ease Traffic and Connect Key Areas in Accra

President Akufo-Addo will officially commission the Flower Pot Interchange on November 19, 2024, as announced by Eugene Arhin, Communications Director at the Presidency.

The new interchange, designed to ease congestion and improve traffic flow, features an 800-meter flyover stretching from Palace Mall on Spintex Road to Boundary Road in East Legon, alongside ramps and other improvements.

The project aims to streamline North-South travel on the Accra-Tema Motorway, reduce traffic around Spintex, and enhance connectivity from Burma Camp to East Legon.

  • 802m dual carriageway flyover with asphalt surfacing
  • Ramps linking Shiashie and Airport Hills, and the motorway towards Tema
  • New access routes and improved Flowerpot roundabout layout
  • Pedestrian walkways, street lighting, and road safety features
