President Nana Akufo-Addo has officially inaugurated the Bank of Ghana’s state-of-the-art headquarters, the Bank Square, in Accra on November 20, 2024.

This marks a major milestone in the Bank’s history and the nation’s economic progress.

The new facility, designed to embody strength and modernity, replaces the outdated 1957 headquarters, symbolizing the Bank’s commitment to staying at the forefront of financial innovation.

The eco-friendly, cutting-edge complex was built by Ghanaian firm Berock Ventures Limited and features sustainable design principles.

In his address, President Akufo-Addo celebrated the Bank’s pivotal role in Ghana’s economic independence and resilience, noting that the Bank Square stands as a testament to the nation’s aspirations for a secure and dynamic financial future.

He also highlighted Ghana’s positive economic indicators, such as a 6.9% GDP growth in Q2 2024 and a reduction in inflation from 54.1% to 22.5% over the past two years.

The event, attended by dignitaries such as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, underscored the country’s progress in financial stability and innovation.

President Akufo-Addo praised the leadership of the Bank of Ghana and the successful completion of the project, calling it a beacon of national pride and creativity.

Looking ahead, the President urged Ghanaians to view the new headquarters as a reminder of visionary leadership and collective responsibility, urging all stakeholders to continue fostering a prosperous and inclusive economy.
