Story Highlights
  • The Health Ministry says Trede, Kokoben, and Ahanta hospitals still lack essential installations
  • Additional funding required for medical equipment and final construction work
  • The hospitals have not been transferred to the Ghana Health Service for operation

The Ministry of Health has refuted claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority that three Agenda 111 hospitals—Trede, Kokoben, and Ahanta—are fully completed and operational.

According to the Ministry, these hospitals are only 95% complete and still require $8.03 million each for full functionality.

A statement released on Tuesday, March 4, clarified that no medical equipment has been installed, and some laboratory facilities remain under construction. Additionally, the hospitals have not been handed over to the Ghana Health Service for operation, indicating that the commissioning ceremony did not signify full readiness.

The required funding will be used to install essential medical equipment and complete the remaining construction, ensuring the hospitals are fully operational.
