Afenyo-Markin to Mahama: Stop National Security Raids and Build a Lasting Legacy
Minority Leader condemns National Security raids, urges President Mahama to end intimidation and uphold democratic values.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has called on President John Dramani Mahama to put an end to National Security raids on the homes of former heads of state institutions, urging him to leave behind a legacy of fairness and restraint.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, March 20, Afenyo-Markin condemned what he described as intimidation and abuse of power under the guise of security operations.
His remarks come in response to a recent raid on the private residence of Dr. Ernest Addison, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
According to reports, around 20 heavily armed operatives, led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, stormed Dr. Addison’s Roman Ridge home in Accra during the early hours of Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
The operatives, some masked and armed with AK-47 rifles, allegedly disabled the property’s CCTV system before conducting their search.
Afenyo-Markin urged Mahama to take responsibility and curb what he termed as executive excesses.
“President John Dramani Mahama, leave a legacy. Even if there were past abuses of executive power, let it be said that you corrected them. We are tired of the intimidation, the attacks, and the hypocrisy,” he stated.
Additionally, he alleged that valuables, including cash and jewelry, were stolen during the raid.
