- Muntaka’s support aimed at aiding mothers and children affected by the fire
The BlueLight Traders Association (BTLA) has issued a formal apology to Interior Minister Mohammed-Muntaka Mubarak after some traders initially rejected his food donation following the devastating fire at Adum Market.
In a statement signed by the association’s interim executives, they condemned the actions of the individuals involved, emphasizing that their behavior did not reflect the association’s stance.
“We deeply regret this unfortunate incident and sincerely apologize to Hon. Muntaka. This was a result of miscommunication and heightened emotions during a distressing time,” the statement read.
The association has also called for the return of the donated food items so they can be fairly distributed to the affected traders.
The controversy erupted on March 26, 2025, when the minister visited the BlueLight area to support victims, especially mothers and children.
However, some traders dismissed the food supplies, calling for alternative forms of assistance.
