  • Efforts to reduce high rental costs for mission staff through property restoration

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, has vowed to preserve all government-owned properties in Benin, stating that no such assets will be sold during his tenure.

He announced plans to renovate and restore Ghana’s diplomatic properties after inspecting several buildings acquired in 1999. Among the six properties, one remains abandoned following a fire in 2019.

Ablakwa expressed concern about structural issues in some buildings, leading to the costly rental of private accommodations by mission staff.

He assured that efforts to renovate or reconstruct these facilities would begin soon, reaffirming his commitment to safeguarding the country’s assets. “No property will be sold under my watch,” he declared.
