A/R: Kyidomhene of Mampong-Brofoyedru Shot Dead in Cold-Blooded Attack
Unidentified assailants target local chief in cold-blooded attack near Asante Mampong

In a shocking and tragic incident, Nana Osei Bonsu, the Kyidomhene (sub-chief) of Brofoyedru in the Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has been allegedly murdered by unidentified assailants.
According to Mr. Richard Nketiah, the Assembly Member for the Mprim Electoral Area, the 48-year-old chief was reportedly dragged from his vehicle, a blue Toyota Corolla with a temporary number plate, and shot at close range in the back of his head.
The lifeless body was discovered by local residents at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, on the outskirts of Mrim, near Asante Mampong.
The Assembly Member further stated that the chief appeared to have been traveling from the Boanim area towards Asante Mampong through Mprim when the attack occurred.
Upon arriving at the scene, Mr. Nketiah noted that part of the road had been blocked, and the front seat door had been forcibly opened.
Nana Osei Bonsu, dressed in a mauve Lacoste T-shirt and black jeans shorts, was found lying face down in a pool of blood.
While his mobile phone was missing, no other belongings appeared to have been taken from the scene, suggesting that robbery may not have been the motive.
Family members shared with the Assembly Member for the Krobo Electoral Area, Yaw Takyi, that Nana Osei Bonsu had left his Kumasi residence on Monday, March 31, 2025, to visit his hometown. It is believed that he was attacked while returning to Brofoyedru.
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command in Mampong has confirmed the tragic event, and an investigation is underway.
The body of the late sub-chief has been taken to the Mampong Government Hospital’s morgue for further examination.
