President John Dramani Mahama officially inducted five new ministers into office during a swearing-in ceremony held at the Jubilee House on Friday, January 24, 2025.

This significant event follows their parliamentary approval after rigorous vetting and extensive debate on January 23 and 24.

In his address, President Mahama underscored the pivotal roles the ministers will play in advancing Ghana’s development objectives. He urged them to exhibit diligence, accountability, and innovation as they tackle the nation’s pressing challenges.

The newly sworn-in ministers and their respective portfolios are:

  • Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie – Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts
    Tasked with revitalizing Ghana’s tourism and creative arts sectors, Madam Gomashie aims to leverage cultural heritage as a catalyst for economic growth.
  • Mr. George Opare Addo – Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment
    A champion for youth empowerment, Mr. Addo will focus on fostering entrepreneurship, enhancing skills development, and addressing youth unemployment.
  • Madam Emelia Arthur – Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development
    With a dedication to rural progress, Madam Arthur will drive policies to ensure sustainable fishing practices, expand aquaculture, and improve the livelihoods of fishing communities.
  • Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim – Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs
    Mr. Ibrahim is poised to strengthen local governance, promote collaboration with traditional authorities, and enhance harmony among religious groups for grassroots development.
  • Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare – Minister for Trade, Industry, and Agribusiness
    Bringing legal and policy expertise, Madam Ofosu-Adjare will spearhead efforts to industrialize the economy, boost trade, and expand agribusiness opportunities.

President Mahama called on the ministers to prioritize transparency, inclusivity, and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of their mandates.
