The child, whohad been missing since January 16, 2025, was tragically discovered dead in an illegal mining pit, just a few meters from the community, at dawn on January 17. The discovery came after a thorough search by family members, local residents, and the police.
Assembly Member for the Atobease Electoral Area, Samuel Yeboah, expressed concerns over the possibility of foul play, casting doubt on the idea that the child had drowned. Investigations are now underway to uncover the true cause of death.
This incident is not the first of its kind in the area, with Yeboah revealing that abandoned mining pits have previously been a cause for concern.
He assured the community that efforts are being made to reclaim and secure these hazardous sites to prevent further tragedies.
The child’s body has been sent to the morgue as police continue their inquiries.
