Minister-designate for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, affectionately known as Pablo, has pledged to prioritize youth empowerment and job creation under the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

In a heartfelt acceptance statement on January 16, following his nomination by President John Dramani Mahama, Opare Addo described the appointment as a shared opportunity to reshape the future of Ghana’s youth. He committed to implementing transformative policies to combat poverty and enhance opportunities for young people.

“This is not just a personal milestone but a collective opportunity to rewrite the story of our nation’s youth. Together, we will create decent jobs, empower millions, and lift young people out of poverty,” he declared, emphasizing the urgency of his mission.

Opare Addo also expressed his intent to lead with inclusivity, calling for collaboration across political lines to achieve sustainable progress. “Let’s start that business, that initiative, that dream—and make it a Ghanaian success story,” he urged.

The Youth Development Ministry, recently separated from the Ministry of Sports and Recreation as part of President Mahama’s structural reforms, will spearhead efforts to support young Ghanaians.

Opare Addo, a seasoned lawyer, local government expert, and business leader, has served as the NDC’s National Youth Organiser since 2018, mentoring young leaders and advancing youth causes. His nomination now awaits parliamentary vetting for approval.
