Georgieva described the proactive measures taken by the Akufo-Addo government as pivotal in cushioning Ghana against the pandemic’s economic shocks while maintaining macroeconomic stability.
In a heartfelt letter marking the conclusion of his tenure, she expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the government and the IMF, which contributed significantly to Ghana’s economic resilience.
“The policies and reforms during your administration have laid the groundwork for Ghana’s future. Additionally, your advocacy for sub-Saharan Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic helped mobilize critical resources to tackle the crisis,” Georgieva noted.
Highlighting the successful completion of the IMF-supported program’s third review, she praised the progress made in restoring macroeconomic stability, emphasizing that these achievements reflect the former president’s commitment to impactful reforms and a promising future for Ghana.
