EC Rolls Out 1,475 BVDs Across Savannah Region in Tight Security Operation
1,475 Biometric Verification Devices and over 350,000 ballots distributed to all seven constituencies

The Electoral Commission (EC) has successfully distributed crucial electoral materials, including 1,475 Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) and 353,390 ballot papers, to all seven constituencies in the Savannah Region.
The operation, which took place on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the Savannah Regional Police Headquarters, was executed under strict security measures and with the oversight of political party representatives.
The materials were allocated to each constituency as follows:
- Bole-Bamboi: 5,960
- Yapei-Kusawgu: 73,650
- North Gonja: 35,550
- Salaga North: 25,980
- Salaga South: 62,195
- Sawla-Tuna-Kalba: 55,010
- Damongo: 41,380
Johnson Akafia, the Savannah Regional Director of the EC, and district officers ensured the materials’ accuracy during the deployment.
The process was closely monitored by heavy security patrols and representatives from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Both Dr. Niama Abdulai of the NDC and Saburu Kantama of the NPP praised the EC’s transparency and efficiency in the operation.
