Former Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Obiri Boahen, has criticized Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanten, flagbearer of the Movement for Change and Alliance for Revolutionary Change, for being ungrateful and bitter.
Speaking in an interview, Obiri Boahen called out Kyeremanten, who has benefitted greatly from the NPP, for holding grudges over his failure to secure the party’s flagbearer position.
Obiri Boahen’s comments come after Alan Kyeremanten publicly disagreed with Former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the ideal candidate for president.
Alan Kyeremanten criticized Kufuor for supporting Bawumia, claiming that a former president and statesman should not back any particular candidate, especially someone he believes to be ineffective.
Obiri Boahen, however, expressed disappointment in Alan Kyeremanten’s remarks, stating that Kufuor had every right to endorse Bawumia.
He pointed out that Alan Kyeremanten’s own failure to address the insults from Hopeson Adorye and other NPP supporters speaks to his lack of leadership within the party.
Obiri Boahen emphasized that Alan Kyeremanten’s long-standing membership in the party does not entitle him to the presidential ticket by default.
