Dampare Breaks Silence, Thanks Ghanaians for Unwavering Support
Former IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare expresses gratitude for the opportunity to serve Ghana, reflecting on his tenure and the overwhelming support from Ghanaians.

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve Ghana, following his recent removal from office.
In a heartfelt statement issued on March 14, 2025, Dr. Dampare thanked God and the people of Ghana for their prayers, blessings, and steadfast support throughout his tenure.
He acknowledged the overwhelming show of love and encouragement, particularly in the past 24 hours, from well-wishers both within and outside the country.
Dr. Dampare extended his appreciation to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for entrusting him with the leadership of the Ghana Police Service, a role that made him the youngest IGP in the Fourth Republic. He also expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for their cordial working relationship during their brief overlap.
He further recognized the prayers, guidance, and support from religious and traditional leaders, as well as the collaboration from heads of sister security agencies. Additionally, he thanked civil society organizations for their constructive feedback and encouragement, and the international community for their engagement and diplomatic support.
Reflecting on his 35-year career, Dr. Dampare expressed deep appreciation for rising from a General Constable to Inspector General of Police, achieving the distinction of being the youngest Commissioner of Police and IGP in the Fourth Republic.
He extended his gratitude to the Police Management Board (POMAB) and all officers of the service for their dedication, wishing them continued success.
At nearly 55 years old, Dr. Dampare reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to Ghana, emphasizing that he remains energetic, disciplined, and devoted to serving the nation with honor and integrity.
