GHS78M Budget Not for My Office – Kwakye Ofosu
Minister clarifies that funds are allocated to state agencies, not his personal office, dismissing Minority’s claims.

Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has debunked claims by the Minority caucus that GHS78 million was allocated solely to his office.
He clarified that the funds are designated for three established state agencies under his oversight.
On March 13, the Minority raised concerns over the budgetary allocation for government communications, questioning why such a large amount was assigned to the ministry led by Kwakye Ofosu and his deputy, Shamima Muslim.
Tano North MP, Gideon Boako, criticized the expenditure, suggesting it was excessive for an office mainly engaged in media monitoring and responses.
In response, Kwakye Ofosu dismissed these allegations, explaining that the allocation was for the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), the Information Services Department (ISD), and the Ghana News Agency (GNA)—all longstanding institutions with vital public service roles.
“These agencies have been in existence for decades. ISD has been around for 85 years, just like GBC and GNA. The GHS78 million allocation is for their operations, not my office,” he clarified.
He emphasized that the breakdown includes GHS8.8 million for goods and services and GHS70 million for capital expenditure for these agencies, reinforcing that the funds are not for personal office use.
