50 Ghanaians Face Imminent Deportation from the US – Ablakwa Reveals
Foreign Affairs Minister discloses that 50 out of 150 detained Ghanaians in the US have received final deportation orders, with repatriations set for mid-2025

Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has disclosed that 50 out of 150 Ghanaians detained in the United States have received final deportation orders and are set to return to Ghana by mid-year.
Briefing Parliament on March 13, 2025, Ablakwa stated that these individuals are among those detained across various U.S. centers for offenses including rape, internet fraud, and illegal entry.
Three Ghanaians have already been processed for deportation and are scheduled to leave on March 19, March 28, and April 1, 2025.
He further noted that 100 other cases are either under appeal or have been dismissed, while efforts have been made to secure the release of one detainee on medical grounds.
Additionally, the Ghanaian Embassy has conducted interviews with 10 individuals to verify their nationality and ensure due process in their cases.
