A 25-year-old man, Philip Opoku, popularly known as Pokuti, has allegedly taken his own life at Akyem Kade in the Eastern Region.

The incident occurred on March 11, 2025, at around 2 PM at the premises of Baptist JHS. According to eyewitnesses, his lifeless body was discovered hanging from an orange tree, with foam coming out of his mouth.

Residents describe Pokuti as a young man from a wealthy home who had allegedly fallen into drug abuse. They suspect he consumed the infamous Red 225 tablet before taking his life.

Concerned locals say the drug is becoming increasingly popular among the youth in the town, raising alarm over its potential dangers.

Police have since deposited the body at the Kade Mortuary and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
