Ghanaian musician Mr Drew has countered assertions that Ghanaian music fails to resonate beyond national borders.
This rebuttal follows comments by UK-based Ghanaian media personality George Britton, who suggested that Ghanaian artists struggle to gain recognition in neighboring countries.
Mr Drew firmly disagreed, stating that Ghanaian musicians are actively working to expand their reach.
He dismissed the idea that their music doesn’t even cross into countries like Togo and Ivory Coast.
“I don’t think that’s true that our songs don’t even cross to Togo or Ivory Coast, but I think that we are trying our best,” Mr. Drew stated in an interview. “Rome wasn’t built in one day, so we are not going to have everything happening in one day. It’s bits by bits, everything will be okay. So we, the Ghanaian artists, are trying our best, but as to whether Ghanaian songs are just in Ghana, I don’t agree.”
