Mahama Meets Captain Traoré as West Africa Faces Diplomatic Crossroads
Ghana’s president meets Captain Ibrahim Traoré to discuss security, economic cooperation, and the future of regional alliances following the ECOWAS exit of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.

As part of his regional diplomatic tour, former President John Dramani Mahama arrived in Burkina Faso, where he was warmly received by the country’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
The two leaders held a private discussion focusing on regional security, economic collaboration, and diplomatic relations.

This visit is part of Mahama’s broader tour of Niger and Mali—three nations that recently exited ECOWAS to form the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

He emphasized the urgent need to rebuild trust among these nations, recognizing that restoring strong regional cooperation will take time and effort.
