Party Executives Accuse Members of Supporting NDC Candidate, Disrupting Election Process

- Suspended members accused of campaigning for the NDC parliamentary candidate
- Charges include distributing items for the opposition and obstructing voters
- Suspension approved by NPP leadership after a disciplinary review
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nanton Constituency has suspended 34 members for alleged misconduct during the 2024 general elections.
The affected individuals, including polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and constituency executives, were accused of backing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate instead of the NPP’s candidate.
The allegations against them range from openly campaigning for the opposition to distributing items on behalf of the NDC and obstructing voters by setting up roadblocks on election day.
A letter signed by Nanton Constituency Chairman, Abukari Inusah, confirmed that the suspension was a unanimous decision made on January 23, 2025, following a meeting with the Council of Elders, the Council of Patrons, and Constituency Executives.
Citing Article 3 Clause (7)(1) and Clause (8)(1) of the party’s 2017 Constitution (as amended), the letter stated that the members had been suspended indefinitely due to findings from the party’s Disciplinary Committee.
The party has yet to disclose further actions regarding the suspended members.
