Konongo: Mining Explosives Blast Kills One, Injures Several

A devastating explosion at mining supply shops in Odumase, near Konongo in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality, has claimed one life and left several others injured, including firefighters.

The blast, which erupted from a shop selling dynamites and other mining explosives, caused massive destruction, injuring multiple people and dismembering some victims.

Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Tragically, a resident who attempted to warn firefighters of the impending danger was caught in the blast and later succumbed to his injuries.

Firefighters at the scene also sustained injuries as they battled the raging inferno. The explosion occurred just meters from a fuel station, raising serious safety concerns.

Divisional Officer Grade 2 Joe Bryden, the Asante Akyem Central Municipal Fire Commander, confirmed the fatality, stating, “He was trying to warn the firefighters to back off, but before he could escape, the explosion occurred. He was severely injured, and I’ve been told he has passed.”

Authorities are currently assessing the full extent of casualties and damage as investigations continue.
