NPP’s No-Show at Economic Forum Was Their Own Decision – Kwakye Ofosu
Government spokesperson dismisses claims of exclusion, says opposition party had every opportunity to participate but chose otherwise

- Kwakye Ofosu insists the forum was inclusive, with some NPP-affiliated figures in attendance
- He argues the party set preconditions and had a history of boycotting similar events
- President Mahama urges national support for economic recovery efforts
Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has refuted claims that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was intentionally sidelined from the National Economic Dialogue, an initiative by President John Dramani Mahama’s administration to address Ghana’s economic challenges.
Addressing concerns over the NPP’s absence, Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that the forum was an open platform where all stakeholders were welcome, regardless of formal invitations.
He pointed out that prominent figures affiliated with the NPP, including Kwame Pianim and former Bank of Ghana Governors Dr. Paul Acquah and Dr. Ernest Addison, were present.
He further stated that the NPP had previously expressed reluctance to participate, even setting preconditions for attendance. Citing past instances like the Senchi Economic Forum, he argued that the party had a history of boycotting similar engagements.
Meanwhile, President Mahama has urged Ghanaians to unite behind the reset agenda, highlighting the need for collective efforts to drive economic recovery and long-term stability.
