Pope Francis, currently receiving treatment for double pneumonia, is resting well and has shown signs of improvement, the Vatican reported on Thursday.

A statement released late Wednesday highlighted a “slight further improvement” in the pope’s condition, offering an optimistic outlook. The Vatican also confirmed that his previously reported “mild kidney insufficiency” has been resolved.

Despite these positive developments, the Vatican has not clarified whether the pope remains in critical condition, as he has since Saturday. Officials emphasized that while his health is improving, his prognosis remains “guarded.”

At 88 years old, Pope Francis has now spent 14 days at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, making this the longest hospitalization of his papacy.
