Residents Gripped by Fear as Second Mobile Money Operator is Killed in Two Weeks, Police Launch Investigation

- 33-year-old Augustine Mensah was shot dead after attending to a late-night customer
- His murder follows a similar killing of Patricia Nimako in Kumasi just two weeks ago

Mensah, who had closed for the day on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, reportedly received a call from a customer requesting a transaction. While returning home after attending to the customer, he was ambushed and shot. A passerby rushed him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
This incident comes just two weeks after a similar attack in Kumasi’s Krofrom, where 30-year-old Patricia Nimako was shot and killed at her mobile money shop. Her funeral was held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, but no arrests have been made, leaving her grieving family demanding justice.
The latest killing has left residents in shock and fear. Police have launched an investigation, while the body of the deceased has been sent to St. Martin’s Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
