In a decisive move to ensure transparency in Ghanaian football, President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to hold the Ghana Football Association (GFA) accountable as the Black Stars gear up for their crucial World Cup qualifying matches in March 2025.
Speaking during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of his second term on Thursday, February 27, 2025, President Mahama expressed concerns over the national team’s declining performance.
“Next month, the senior national team, the Black Stars, which is now a pale shadow of its former glory, will play two World Cup qualifying matches. I’ve instructed my office and the office of the Minister of Sports and Recreation to hold the Ghana Football Association accountable to the people of Ghana as we prepare for this game,” he stated.
Currently, the Black Stars are tied on nine points with Group I leaders Comoros after four matches. They will host Chad in Accra on March 19 before traveling to Morocco to take on Madagascar on March 24, 2025.
