Deputy Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, has firmly denied being a member of any secret society within the Catholic Church.

During his vetting before the Appointments Committee on February 25, 2025, Dumelo reaffirmed his strong Catholic faith, emphasizing his devotion to the rosary, which he carried along to the session. However, when pressed by Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin on whether he belonged to any Catholic fraternity or society, Dumelo categorically dismissed the notion.

“I don’t belong to any society in the Catholic Church,” he stated.

While acknowledging the existence of various Catholic societies, including the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, the Knights and Ladies of St. John, and Freemasonry, Dumelo maintained that he has no knowledge of their internal activities.

“I am familiar with them but not familiar with their dealings,” he added.
