Cole Palmer has been urged by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca to keep working hard and maintaining his positive attitude, as he believes the goals will eventually come.
The 22-year-old, who leads Chelsea as their top scorer in the Premier League this season, has now gone seven games without scoring.
Despite this, Chelsea secured a dominant 4-0 victory over struggling Southampton on Tuesday, propelling them back into the top four of the Premier League.
While Palmer missed several key chances in the match, Chelsea’s attacking performance still saw four different players get on the scoresheet.
Maresca, however, remains confident in Palmer’s ability, insisting that the forward’s efforts are still highly valued by the team.
“Keep working, stay happy, and keep laughing the way you do,” Maresca said in an interview with BBC Match of the Day. “It’s normal to go through a rough patch when goals aren’t coming, but that’s fine. Just keep going, and the goals will come.”
