Kasoa residents finally unmasked the mystery behind a series of bizarre thefts after catching 29-year-old Nigerian Joseph Chukumeka red-handed in a shocking burglary attempt.

Joseph, who had been stealing designer clothes—hangers included—and toilet rolls from residents’ rooms, was caught in the act on Monday in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

For weeks, locals had been puzzled by frequent thefts with no signs of forced entry. However, Joseph’s luck ran out when neighbors heard suspicious noises and rushed to investigate. They found him inside a room without any visible break-in, later discovering that he had been using a master key to access homes unnoticed.

Angry residents stripped him naked and subjected him to severe beatings before he pleaded for mercy, blaming his actions on the devil.

He was eventually rescued and handed over to the police for further investigations and possible prosecution.
