Story Highlights
  • Survey aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Free SHS and Double Track
  • Students, parents, and teachers urged to share their experiences
  • Findings will help shape future education reforms in Ghana

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched a nationwide public survey to assess the impact of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and the Double Track System. The initiative aims to gather insights from students, parents, and teachers to evaluate the effectiveness of these policies and identify key challenges.

Announced via GES’s official Facebook page on Saturday, February 22, 2025, the survey is designed to measure public understanding, gauge satisfaction levels, and explore potential areas for improvement.

The Free SHS policy, introduced to remove financial barriers to secondary education, has significantly increased enrollment. However, concerns persist about overcrowding, infrastructure limitations, and the quality of teaching, particularly under the Double Track System, which was implemented to accommodate the surge in student numbers.

GES is urging all stakeholders—students, parents, teachers, and the general public—to participate in the survey by sharing their experiences and recommendations for reform.

This initiative coincides with the ongoing National Education Forum in Ho, Volta Region, where policymakers, education experts, and stakeholders are reviewing Ghana’s education sector. Feedback from the survey will be analyzed and incorporated into discussions at the forum, shaping future education policies.

As Ghana navigates key education reforms, the results of this survey could influence the next phase of Free SHS and the Double Track System, ensuring they align with national goals and the needs of students.
