In a bid to promote academic excellence and assess pupils’ understanding of the new NaCCA curriculum, Mamprobi Salvation Army Basic B has officially joined the highly esteemed Perfect Series Basic Schools Assessment Contest.
The contest, spearheaded by Pastor Philip Sarpong, CEO of Perfect Grade Publications & Stationery, is designed for Basic 3 to 6 pupils, aiming to evaluate their knowledge and application of subjects in alignment with Ghana’s latest educational reforms.
Speaking on the school’s participation, Mr. Stephen Yaw Yeboah, Headmaster of Mamprobi Salvation Army Basic B, expressed excitement about the opportunity, stating that the outstanding performance of their sister school, Mamprobi Salvation Army Basic ‘A’, in the maiden edition motivated them to join.
“This competition provides an excellent platform for our pupils to challenge themselves, showcase their academic abilities, and gain exposure to national-level assessment standards,” he said.
“Assessment is a crucial part of education. You cannot teach without assessing the pupils. It is extremely important to ensure that what is being taught is well understood.”
Mr. Yeboah further emphasized that the competition will allow parents to witness their children’s academic progress on television, adding that a strong performance in the contest would bring pride to parents, teachers, and students alike.
“When it comes to Ablekuma Central, Mamprobi Salvation Army Basic B stands out as the best in BECE and overall academic performance. Those competing against us know that we are here to win,” he declared.
“We have participated in many competitions and emerged victorious, so we have no fears. Our only focus is to train the pupils thoroughly for each stage of the contest.”
Mr. Yeboah also issued a bold challenge to private schools, stating that while they charge exorbitant fees, government schools offer quality education at no cost—and they are ready to prove it by dominating the competition.
Teachers at Mamprobi Salvation Army Basic B echoed similar sentiments, highlighting that the assessment contest fosters healthy competition among students and significantly enhances learning.
They revealed that their sister school’s participation in the first edition had a tremendous impact on their learners, further motivating them to join.
“Since the contest was introduced, it has sparked intense competition among students and teachers. It has propelled our pupils to become faster at learning and solving mathematical problems,” they noted.
They also issued a strong warning to rival schools: “Watch out for us.”
In an interview, participating learners expressed confidence, stating that the contest is all about learning. “The questions were not difficult, and we are certain that the trophy is coming to our school,” they said.
