Ghana’s Black Queens goalkeeper, Cynthia Konlan, has expressed confidence in her team’s preparation ahead of their international friendly against Morocco on Friday, February 21, at the Père Jégo Stadium in Casablanca.
This match will mark the team’s debut under new head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren and their first since playing Japan in July 2024.
Konlan believes the Black Queens are primed to catch the Moroccan team off guard. “We’re confident in our abilities and believe we have an advantage over Morocco. They might be relying on outdated information about our playing style, which could work in our favour,” she shared in an interview with the GFA media team. “We’re ready to surprise them and seize this opportunity.”
The team has been training under the guidance of Bjorkegren, along with his assistants Sampson Charles and Anita Wiredu, for the past few days in Morocco. Konlan is optimistic about the progress made during the sessions.
“The training has been great, and we’ve seen some positive changes compared to our previous coach,” she added. “The new systems and tactics are exciting, and we’re really enjoying the challenge. We’re eager to implement these new strategies in the game against Morocco.”
The friendly match against Morocco is scheduled to kick off at 17:00 GMT.
