The Minority in Parliament has officially filed an appeal against the Koforidua High Court’s order, which found the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ernest Yaw Kumi, in contempt and issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

According to the caucus leadership, including Weija/Gbawe MP Jerry Ahmed Shaib, they have also filed a stay of execution to suspend the court’s order while the appeal is pending.

The Koforidua High Court convicted Ernest Yaw Kumi for contempt after he defied an interim injunction that barred him from being sworn in as a legislator.

His failure to appear for sentencing led to the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest.
