A shocking daylight armed robbery has devastated the community of Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West district of the Bono Region, leaving a mobile money vendor and black marketer dead.

The tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, around 5:30 pm, sending waves of fear and disbelief through the area.

The victim, identified as Mr. Gyabaa Yeboah Japheth, believed to be in his early 30s, was shot and killed at his shop, located near the Nkrankwanta lorry station.

Eyewitnesses reported that four armed men approached the shop, initially appearing to seek a currency exchange. However, moments later, a gunshot rang out, sparking panic and a desperate scramble for safety.

“I was nearby when I heard the gunshot,” said one eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous. “People were running everywhere, screaming and shouting. It was chaos.”

Police were quickly alerted and arrived at the scene to secure the area. The body of the deceased was transported to the Nkrankwanta District Hospital, where it is currently being held as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the incident and are calling on anyone with information to come forward.

The community remains in shock, with residents expressing outrage and sorrow over the senseless loss of life. “This is a tragic reminder of the dangers that exist in our society,” said a local resident. “We must unite to condemn this violence and support the efforts of the authorities to restore peace and security to our community.”
