The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled a rerun of the Council of State elections in the North East and Ashanti Regions for Monday, February 17, 2025.

In the North East Region, the rerun was necessitated by a tie between two candidates, each securing six votes. Meanwhile, in the Ashanti Region, the process was disrupted by chaos during ballot counting, leaving the election incomplete.

In a statement released on Wednesday, February 12, the EC assured the public that it has notified the Ghana Police Service and the National Election Security Taskforce to enhance security at the election venues and ensure a smooth process without disruptions.
