Felix Ofosu Kwakye, a former Deputy Minister for Communications, has dismissed allegations that President John Dramani Mahama is seeking excuses to dismiss Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

Speaking on the matter, Ofosu Kwakye clarified that the President doesn’t need the IGP to commit any wrongdoing to make a leadership change within the police service. He emphasized that such decisions are based on the President’s discretion and vision for reforms in the security sector.

“The President can decide to replace Dr. Dampare if he believes a different person is better suited to implement the changes he envisions for the police service. There is no need to wait for him to commit an offense before making a move,” Ofosu Kwakye stated.

He further urged the public to ignore what he described as propaganda surrounding the issue, reiterating that leadership changes are routine and not necessarily tied to misconduct.
