The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has expressed his disappointment following the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Ghana Se Sen with Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV, the MP admitted that the outcome was not what the party had hoped for.

“Opposition was not what we were looking for, but Ghanaians have spoken,” he remarked.

Reflecting on the results, Lawyer Agyei Baffour acknowledged that the electorate had chosen a different path, seemingly opting for the NPP to serve in the Minority to play a supportive role in governance.

“Some time ago, we had 96 MPs, and Ghanaians gave us 169 MPs. Now they’ve reduced our numbers to 88. After four years, if the 185 MPs they’ve given to the NDC don’t bring any meaningful change, they will take it back,” he explained.

The MP further emphasized that the decision of the people must be respected, highlighting the responsibility of the NPP in their new role to work constructively for the benefit of the nation.
