A Security and International Relations Expert, Nana Osei Ofori, has raised a red flag over the growing presence of foreign child beggars on the streets of Ghana, warning that the country is under a “100% security risk” because of them.

Speaking on the Lawson TV/Radio Ghana Se Sen Morning Show, Mr. Ofori called on President Mahama’s government and the nation’s security agencies to urgently address the issue by removing these beggars from the streets.

He expressed concerns that many of these children grow up to become armed robbers or engage in prostitution, posing a long-term threat to national security.

According to Mr. Ofori, every ECOWAS member country has its own laws, and it is essential that foreign nationals respect the sovereignty and regulations of the countries they enter.

He stressed that the persistence of begging in Ghana hampers the country’s growth and development, further emphasizing the need for swift action to eliminate the practice.
