A violent clash between students of Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) and Kumasi Anglican Senior High School (KASS) in the Ashanti Region has led to extensive property damage.

The confrontation escalated into vandalism, with students burning car tyres, hurling stones, and destroying four private vehicles on KASS’s campus. The school gate, billboard, and notice board at KTI were also damaged.

KTI Principal Gabriel Kingsford Osei claimed that KASS students initiated the attack on Thursday night, armed with stones and machetes.

He stated that despite his efforts to calm the situation, the aggression continued, leading to retaliation from KTI students.

Meanwhile, KASS tutor Rev. Father Kenneth Collins Owusu linked the clash to tensions from an ongoing inter-schools athletics competition, citing past confrontations triggered by minor disputes.

The Ashanti Regional Education Directorate has summoned both schools’ authorities to address the recurring issue.

Police intervened to restore order, but no arrests have been made as investigations continue.
