Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the acting spokesperson for President John Dramani Mahama, has reassured Ghanaians that the government will implement robust measures to prevent future food shortages under the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme.

This assurance comes after the release of GHS200 million to address recent food supply shortfalls in schools.

Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Sunday, January 2, Ofosu criticized the previous administration for poor planning, which led to schools reopening without sufficient food supplies.

He noted that when school heads requested a postponement of reopening to allow for proper food arrangements, their plea was ignored, worsening the situation.

Upon assuming office, President Mahama swiftly intervened, ensuring food was supplied to schools and allocating GHS200 million through the Ghana Education Service to sustain feeding efforts.

Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that moving forward, the government will put in place lasting solutions to prevent such shortages and ensure students receive adequate meals.
