Sam George, the Minister-designate for Communications, has reaffirmed his commitment to reintroducing the Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill in Parliament, calling it essential for protecting Ghanaian family values and safeguarding children.
His remarks align with President John Dramani Mahama’s suggestion that a government-sponsored bill would allow for broader consultation and foster national consensus, compared to the current Private Member’s Bill. The President, during a January 14 meeting with Bishops, also emphasized the need to revise school curriculums to include moral and cultural teachings reflecting Ghanaian and African values.
Appearing before the Appointments Committee on January 30, Sam George pledged to work with the government to reintroduce the bill in this 9th Parliament.
“Whether as a private member’s bill or a government bill, I will ensure it is brought back. This bill is a critical part of our national lives, protecting Ghanaian family values and our innocent children,” he stated.
Sam George’s stance highlights a unified push for legislative action to uphold the moral and cultural fabric of Ghanaian society.
