President Mahama is set to swear in the eight-member Constitutional Review Committee today, fulfilling his promise to advance the Constitutional Review Process. The ceremony will take place at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The committee members include Prof. Henry Kwasi Prempeh (Chairman), Justice Sophia Adinyirah, Prof. Kwame Karikari, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, Dr. Godwin Djokoto, Ibrahim Tanko Amidu, Dr. Esi Ansah, and Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya (Secretary).

In a statement from Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson for the President, it was stated that President Mahama expects the committee to evaluate and address gaps from the work of the 2010 Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative Committee.

The committee is tasked with engaging stakeholders, gathering opinions on proposed amendments to the 1992 Constitution, and offering actionable recommendations to improve democratic governance.

The President emphasized that the committee’s members have been chosen for their expertise, national service, and commitment to good governance.

Their recommendations for constitutional amendments will be presented within five months for consideration by the Government.

Additionally, President Mahama will also swear in the Minister-designates who have been approved by Parliament during the ceremony.
