A children’s football game in Thailand turned into a chilling nightmare when they discovered a headless and armless corpse floating in a canal near Samut Sakhon, 48 km from Bangkok, on Jan 28, according to Thai media outlet Thaiger.
The children were playing near a construction site for a riverbank protection dam when their football flew out of bounds, landing close to the canal. While retrieving the ball, they noticed something floating in the water and curiously poked it with a stick, only to realize it was a decomposed corpse.
Shocked, they alerted nearby adults, who called the police. Authorities described the body as so heavily decomposed that the gender of the deceased could not be identified. The remains were taken to Siriraj Hospital’s forensic institute for further examination.
Villagers reported no recent disappearances from the community, adding to the mystery surrounding the grim discovery.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover the identity and circumstances of the deceased.
