Parliament has given its approval to Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as the Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources, alongside three regional ministers-designate, following an extensive vetting process.

The confirmation, announced on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, paves the way for the nominees to officially take up their respective roles.

The approved regional ministers-designate are:

  • Tia Ibrahim – North East Region
  • Dr. Frank Amoakohene – Ashanti Region
  • Akamugri Atanga Donatus – Upper East Region

The appointees are tasked with advancing development in their regions by working closely with local authorities to implement government policies and promote socio-economic growth.

However, the approval of Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah faced strong opposition from the Minority in Parliament.

Their resistance stemmed from his refusal to retract or apologise for remarks made about former President Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address on January 3, 2025.

During his vetting, Armah-Kofi Buah explained that his comments, perceived by some as harsh, were not meant to offend but were reflective of the circumstances at the time.

Despite acknowledging the backlash, he stood firm in his decision not to issue an apology or retraction.
