A plus-sized rapper, Dank Demoss, who proudly identifies as a BBW—”big beautiful woman”—is suing Lyft after an incident where one of the company’s drivers allegedly refused her a ride, claiming she was “too large” for his car.

The incident reportedly occurred earlier this month in Detroit when the driver arrived in his Mercedes-Benz sedan and locked his doors upon seeing her.

“I can fit in this car,” Demoss, also known as Dajua Blanding, said in a video she posted on social media on January 19.

“Believe me, you can’t,” the driver retorted, adding that there was no room in the back and his tires wouldn’t support the weight.

Demoss, hurt by the exchange, expressed her frustration to FOX2: “I’ve been in cars smaller than that. I just want them to know that it hurt my feelings.”

The viral video of the exchange has since garnered over 340,000 views on TikTok as of January 28, sparking conversations online about discrimination and body positivity.
